Somerset Staff

Somerset’s staff is the central factor in our school’s success. Our administrators and teachers have many years of experience and education in Early Childhood Education. They are all caring professionals who are dedicated to providing the absolute best for young children. Somerset Early Childhood Center’s staff is unlike that of any other early childhood program you will find. Our entire teaching staff has a minimum of a 4-year post-secondary degree, specific coursework and training in Early Childhood Education or a related field such as Child/Human Development, and many years of teaching experience in preschool, pre-k and kindergarten classrooms. Some of our teachers also have their master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

Our executive director, Ms. Sheela, has very specialized teaching experience in a clinical preschool program and many years teaching in our own pre-k program. Our founder, Dr. Anne Porter began teaching at the university level as a Childhood Education professor and is presently a retired, tenured professor in the Reading and Language Arts Department at Oakland University. Our director, Ms. Jeanine, came to us after directing a preschool program for 9 years and then operating her own preschool for 10 years.

We have the professional experience and knowledge to support you as you meet the continuous challenges of providing your children with the best possible start in life, and we all love what we do!
