Preschoolers and the Scientific Method

Young children are amazing! This article from “Scientific American” reports on an article published in the journal “Cognition” that suggests that even very young children “make decisions on the basis of the potential for gaining new information.” Given hands-on problems, 4 to 5 year old children explored materials relatively systematically. This is a very readable article that describes how children systematically explore objects to learn about them.
